Fishing in new york state?

ok I'm 13 years old my dad is 38 years old. me and him live in new york state and wanna fish. i wanted to know how much a lisence will cost him and does he have to do any thing for the lisence( tests etc) also we live on long island what is a few good fishing spots that arnt to filled with people. and im to young ofr a lisence so can i go under his or any other relatives. and can we fish if a family member is with us and has a lisence.

  1. about 19$. If it's saltwater i'm pretty sure you don't need a lisence. I live in western new york. almost 14 myself. good luck![p.s. no test needed.]

  3. $19.00 for a resident license. if you are fishing, no you do not. if anyone over 16 is, they do. you need to live in new york for 30 days, and have a nys id- driver's or non-driver's id and a nys address.

    no test required.

  4. Your dad can get a license at a sporting goods store or even walmart.your right you don't need one, but anyone over 16 who is fishing does. here's an article about the catskill which is a 2hr ride and an article on how to catch trout. Or try someplace in the sound for blues.
