  1. First of all you would need a USCG License depending on the size vessel you want to operate, a smaller vessel that carries 6 paying passengers or less you will need an OUPV (operator of uninspected passenger vessel) also known as a 6 pack. On a vessel that carries 6 or more you will need to have a masters license. Again depending on the size of the vessel you may need a COI ( certificate of inspection) from the USCG. There are many other Federal requirements, so I would suggest to check into a USCG captain's license course to see if that is what you really want to do.

I don't know the business licensing requirements for the state of Texas but more than likely you would have to have a charter boat license & insurance.

    Good Luck

  2. Like a business or to go on your own? for a business you would probably need a captain's license, and I don't know about texas but in louisiana you would either get a 3 day charters license or a full year saltwater and a basic license.

  3. To give a tout you need a captains license,(US Coast Guard)

You need Texas license for coastal waters.
