Fishing line question

I'm still new to the fishing game but i was curious, whats the best fishing line ? and whats the best color of fishing line to get that would be hard for the fish to see !!

monafilament line is your best option and trilene is a good brand as for the poundage of the line it depends on what your fishing for

I would go with a nice smooth mono. My personal preference is P-line. The moss green or clear is good no matter the brand.

light line is easier to cast and harder for fish to see i use light blue or clear

i like to use 6 pound test and it works good for bluegill, perch ,bass and small catfish ,

lighter line makes the fight more fun too , you have to be careful and have the drag just right or the fish will break your line ...

brand isnt important to me since i just fish for fun i get whatever is cheap , if you are a tournament fisherman then you want something expensive like spider wire

if you are fishing in the ocean it is a whole different story a 500 pound marlin will break 6 pound test and never even slow down

It really depends on what area you are fishing and what fish you are targeting, but there are a lot of options out there. Everyone is also going to have their personal preference.

I have tried three different types of line. Stren Monofilament, Trilene Flourocarbon, and SpiderWire Braid.

I've found that monofilament line tends to stretch too much for me, it winds up getting tangled pretty bad. It also doesn't cast very easily. It's a decent all around line though if you are on a tight budget.

I think Flourocarbon is okay, it's harder for the fish to see than monofilament, and doesn't stretch as much so it doesn't tangle as easily. It is a little easier to cast than mono as well. I did found though that it is easier to snap though once you start getting nicks in it from the fish or from hitting it against obstructions. I tend to use this one as a leader more than anything else now since it is hard for the fish to see it.

I absolutely love SpiderWire Braided line, ever since I put in on my reel, I haven't had the problem with tangles that I used to, and it casts like a dream now. Even though I am using a spincast reel instead of a spinning reel or a baitcast reel, I'm still able to cast this out VERY far and land the bait EXACTLY where I want to ever since I've put this line on my reel. It's also more sensitive to feeling the bites and nibbles of the fish too. I've heard Power-Pro and P-Line are also good brands for this, but SpiderWire is a little cheaper and is good enough for me, so I'm sticking with that for now.

If you want a good line, you have to pay a little more for it, but believe me it's worth it. I've found that at Walmart, the three lines I mentioned are $7, $10, and $13 respectively, so I didn't mind paying $3-6 more for a lot better line. It's up to you. You might just want to start in the middle and go from there to see what you think, but now that I've tried braided, I'll never go back.

As far as color, I typically use the Green braided line and a clear flourocarbon leader and it works great. But even if you choose not to use a leader that Green Braided is hard to spot in the water too, so you could just as easily put a hook or lure straight on it. I prefer to use the leader though so if it gets caught on the bottom it's easier to snap off.

Different lines suit different conditions, locations and fish. The best bet is to have a chat to your local tackle shop, tell them what sort of fish you plan on chasing & where you plan on fishing and they'll be able to sort you out.

There are hundreds of different lines out there, at that's no exaggeration, each one has its own use, personally prefer a co-polymer line over a mono-filament line, the co-polymer has a lower diameter to its breaking strain good lines to try are Berkley and stren, i also like sufix lines.Braid is also an option to you but i don't recommend it as its expensive and you're just starting out. This is a good option.
