I have a Johnson century reel. The crank is on the right side, and there's a nut on the otherside that holds the crank in. The nut came lose and I lost it. Now there's nothing to hold the crank (thing you turn to reel in) on. Can i buy a small nut at a store, or should I try gluing it on?? I need to get it done soon because Im going fishing in a few days.

  1. take it to any fishing retailer, preferably a big chain and ask if they have a spare bolt lying about that might fit it. aim not to pay anything, and if they want you to pay for something raise your eyebrow at how cheap they are and say you'll remember not to go there again. then leave, think about it, go back and apologise hahahahaha. no but seriously, they'll probably sort you out free of charge.

  2. I would stop at your local Ace Hardware or a Mom & Pop hardware store - bring the reel with you.... buy it there. It may be reversed threaded - they may know or may not.

Last resort - I know Home Depot has some small stuff - rummage thru it in the fasteners section - usually you have to open a drawer up and it's in the drawers.
