Question

I have about a 10 gallon tank with just a betta in it.

the filter i have now puts off a strong current and he doesnt like it.

Will a sponge filter be ok in here?

Do sponge filters even work?

Um this is juss my opinion but I think it will..... Sponge filters do work from waht i heard. Hope this helps!!! =]]

Betta fish can survive under poor water condition because it used to live in farms where there are swarms, dirt, soiled water. It does not die easily and does not need air pump because it gets oxygen from the air not in the water. All you need is to clean off the poops made by betta daily to keep the water clean, sponge filters don't work very well. I would still recommend strong filter though it bothers betta, at least its healthier. After two weeks, your betta will get use to it.

what kind of filter do you have? on mine it has a k**b on the top that will let you lessen the pressure that the filter makes the water return to the tank. try and see if yours has this first and play around with it before you buy a new filter!

I am not sure about sponge filters...but as an alternative why don't you get a filter that is rated for a smaller tank. If you do regular water changes and all there is is the betta you will be fine with a little bit of a smaller heater.

You can place one of the plastic ' walls' that they place the betas in at pet stores but use it to block the current instead of holding your fish.

but i dont think ur betta is ganna die from a the filter it should be a good for him good exsirsize going through the flow and all

i say u should talk to the aquarium shopkeeper and ask about making a chamber filter that is the best thing for ur fishes. by having a chamber filter in a aquarium the water will be clear and ur fish will also be healthy

Betta;s don't like strong filter but you could use a sponge filter if it isn;t strong I suggest you plant that 10 gallon tank cause the plants act as a natural filter
