Fishy smell in laundry room?

IThis morning I started a load of laundry, and when I came back to switch it there was this funky fish smell in my laundry room. It's never been there before. And the smell is starting to venture into the hallway! I don't understand what caused this. We havent eaten any fish, we don't go fishing.. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know what would cause this smell??

  1. It could that your drain hose is retaining water and it is souring. Or, it could be that your washing machine is not emptying and the tank is retaining water. Is there a leak that might be seeping into the floor and causing this? Sometimes dead rodents can smell "fishy", so I'd check to see if there is one somewhere in the room. Also, check to see if there is a piece of wet, possibly mildewing clothing. Any of these things could give a foul odor. You're going to have to really investigate and eliminate before the odor starts to embed itself into your clothes. You'd hate to get used to the smell and not notice when you go out that you smell bad.

  2. Make sure you haven't got any mice as when they die the smell really fishy. We had them at work and the whole place stunk. Just pull out everything and have a good look. Fingers crossed you haven't got any tho. Its only a suggestion.
