Question:

Fitting a Scottoiler to a Yamaha Fazer 600 Motorcycle?

Hi,

I have a 1999 Yamaha Fazer 600 motorcycle and bought a 2nd hand Scottoiler that someone had used on a VFR750.

I have looked at Scottoiler's website and the fitting of the Scottoiler seems straight forward enough apart from the connection to the vacuum source.

Can anyone advise where this vacuum is on the fazer and which connector I would need (T-piece or 5mm or 6mm straight adaptor). There are a few local dealers I could try, but most of them are not the best at 'customer service' so i'll try here first.

Thanks,

Colin

  1. Please ignore the guy above, that is just an incredible answer and the man obviously does not understand motorcycle chains.

It sounds like you have looked only at the general vacuum connection guide on the Scottoiler web site. There is a guide dedicated to your bike and it explains exactly where the take off point for your bike is and which parts to use.

As part of my business we deal with Scottoilers and I have fitted them to many Fazers. It is an easy install. Not only do we deal with them but all of my personal bikes have a Scottoiler on them, most of which I bought before I started this firm.

    Excellent investment.

If you can't find the guide - edit your question and I will talk you through it but it is easy to find on this link - just fill in the relevant details for your bike and download the pdf

  2. try looking   at the carburettor  manifolds. there should be  plug in points for balancing the carbs and connecting a carb vacuum gauge. You  connect to that point.

  3. i did away with my oiler. i just spray teflon lube on every so often. chains are cheap and i replace them myself so i have no interest in getting 40000 miles or whatever out of a chain. even so i've never had a chain fail. o ring chains have lube inside the o rings so why add more oil?
