Five Cents finishes first at Jebel Ali - Derrinstown Stud - UAE
Legendary trainer Ali Rashid Al Raihe’s star horse, Five Cents, won the Derrinstown Stud on a bright Friday afternoon, February 10 at Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Out of the eight worthy competitors for the 7 furlongs Conditions Race, Five Cents demonstrated outstanding performance, and finished first with the margin of 1 length.
The dashing horse was driven by jockey Royston Ffrench. At the end of the contest, the jockey showered immense applause on the winner for his excellent and clean run.
While speaking to the media yesterday, Ffrench said, “Five Cents loves it here at Jebel Ali and seems to have improved this season and that is probably a career-best effort as he had to give weight to the second and third, who we know are hard to beat here."
The horse’s heroics impressed his opponent Mujaazef’s jockey to such an extent that he was forced to appreciate him. He claimed publically that Five Cents deserved the victory.
Hill told, “I know the horse well from the UK and he has run well on his three UAE starts prior to this. He deserved a win and he was always going to hold the challenge of the runner-up."
Among the other seven runners, Escape Route finished second and, Otaared, third. Spirit Of Battle earned fourth position, while Happy Dubai and Mujaazef finished fifth and sixth, respectively. The seventh spot went to, League Champion, while Munaddam was
the tail ender.
Five Cents helped his trainer to continue his success streak. Raihe’s trainee, Remember, have accomplished some good victories in recent months.
Owned by Royal Cavalry Oman, the five-year-old horse registered a fabulous hat-trick from March to November 2011. As a whole, he has won 6 out of his 22 starts so far. His triumphs include 2 Flat Turf and 4 All-weather races. Bred by Brook Stud Bloodstock
Ltd, Five Cents was foaled on March 5, 2007.
This conquest has perked up the talented horse’s morale once again, and he is likely to turn in another hat-trick. Raihe also hopes that his trainee will bring home further titles during the calendar year.
