Five Coaches In Line For the Nigerian National Team Squad – Part 1

After Lars Lagerback left the Super Eagles, the Swedish manager kept the spot of the Nigerian national team boss vacant and up for grabs.
Augustine Eguaveon is the current caretaker manager of the national team and now as the dead line date for the appointment of the national team coach is drawing to a close, pressure on the team is rising as the administrators need to find a good replacement.
So here is a list of the best five Nigerian football coaches they should quickly choose from. They are scheduled to go up against Guinea soon in the African Nations cup qualifiers 2012 and must make haste.
Ikhana Magic: On the fifth spot of the list is Ikhana Magic. He was a member of the 1980 African Nations cup winning squad and was a part of the Green Eagles.
Magic began his club managing career with the Elkanemi warriors in 1986 and won two league titles, one with Enyimba in 2002 and then the other one with kano Pillars in 2008.
He also made history by becoming the first coach to guide Enyimbato to their African Champions league win in 2003.
Magic is also known for his habit of making things known on whatever the issue is and never shies away from a topic. For example he resigned from Kano Pillars in 2008 and claimed the reason was the amount of corruption in the game. His flexibility has made
him the Niger Republic technical director. Then he returned to Kwara united in 2010.
In 2003 the Confederation of African football made him the African club coach of the year and he has a chance of managing the national team right now. He is on good terms with the administration designated to appoint the spot and he has a very good reputation.

Okey Emordi, The Local Champion: This coach is known as the local Champion. He is the technical adviser to Enyimba, the Nigerian league Champions, and is following in the footsteps of Kadiri Ikhana to become the second coach to win the CAF
Champions league, his previous win was with Enyimba in 2004.
In 2004 this CAF African coach of the year had a rather futile spell with the Super Eagles and lost to Ghana in the qualifying matches of the African National Championships.
But ever since then the boss seems to have bounced back and is in top form to take his team all the way.
It is believed that Okey Emordi will make a great coach but the thing hindering this decision is the chance of this coach being influenced by the foreign base administration and the players so right now all of them are against Emordi’s appointment.
Power Of Incubency For Augustine Eguaveon: Augustine Eguaveon is the caretaker of the Super Eagles and already has Olympic experience under his wing and has a lot of experience with the team.
Eguaveon has gathered a lot of support as he has been making the bold move of mixing up a lot of players both from the local leagues and from the international side. He is trying to make a well organized and superior national team, the likes of  which Nigeria
has never seen before.
He was also a part of the 1994 African nation’s cup winning squad and the first Nigerian team to make the FIFA World Cup. He actually started his managing career with the national team and started with the under seven teens in 2001 and then made his move
to the big leagues.
He was appointed as the assistant coach to Christain and remained at that post from 2002-05. Then he took charge in 2006 and got the team the Bronze medal In Egypt.
Augustine Eguaveon is described to be patient and is considered to be something that the administrators can easily work with. Still there are some loose ends and he is unpopular among most Nigerian masses though he is still in line to be made the next national
team coach.
