Five Dream to gain overdue success in Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Series Qualifier) at Exeter
There are surely some doubts over Five Dream’s stamina, but his trainer, Paul Nicholls’ impressive track record in the Pertemps Qualifiers makes him the most appealing contestant in Pertemps Handicap Hurdle (Series Qualifier), taking place at Exeter on Wednesday,
November 14, 2012.
Five Dream is all set to gain an overdue success. His last few runs did not go well. The 8-year-old was last seen in May, when he finished 12th in the field of 18. The son of Take Risks, however, has a tremendous winter record.
In last November-December, he captured the runner-up place in three straight races. Victories seem to have dried up for him; therefore, the punters will be reluctant to show interest. His last triumph hit the headlines way back in October 2009.
Having enjoyed a long break of almost sixth months, the Societe Lauge-bred is full of energy. It is no lie that victories don’t have good terms with him, but still his chances in today’s contest are very bright.
The main danger is Captain Sunshine, who is consistent plus effective. Ahead of going on vacations in April, the Emma Lavelle-trained registered a couple of consecutive wins.
He returned to action last month, when finishing sixth. Although the Mrs Julien Turner-owned was not among the toppers, he presented an outstanding show. It was a respectable comeback, and would be high on the list today.
Including this pair, seven horses have made it to the line-up. Over a distance of two miles, seven furlongs and 110 yards, the contenders will be searching a handsome prize of £9,697. The class 2 meeting will be kicked off at 14:10 GMT.
Alfie Sherrin is a Cheltenham festival winner, but might need comeback run. Stars Du Granits was beaten favourite last time, and has something to prove over this longer trip. Moorland Sunset likes it here, but it is a stiff task on the first attempt beyond
2m4f.
Lundy Sky is a C&D winner, who handles any ground. So, the Tony Newcombe-trained is respected despite a long break. Amigo is making debut for David Pipe, and an extraordinary effort is unlikely.
