Five Games return to haunt Arsenal – Part 1
This past Sunday, the Gunners displayed the same hunger and determination that helped them end up as the invincible in the 2004 campaign. Their win against the Red Devils was an astounding victory for the Arsenal's team who have had very little to rejoice
over the past few weeks. The Gunners displayed renewed spirit and competence, one which also helped them beat http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at the Emirates Stadium this season.
No matter how much promise the youngsters have shown, the fact remains that another year has gone begging and the wait for silverware extends. The Premier League's Trophy is now out of their hands and a number of less than impressive performances have made
a comeback to haunt them in the end.
Had things been a little different over the length of these games, Arsenal could have ended this season on a high with the Barclay Premier League title. Arsenal will end the season only a few points behind current league leaders Manchester United. There
are a few games that should be highlighted where the team’s failure to obtain 3 points came back to hit them hard.

This game is still vividly embedded in every Arsenal's mind. This was another occasion where Arsenal failed to deliver a killer performance and when they eventually started firing, an Emanuel Eboué blunder ensured that it wasn’t enough.
Arsenal came off the back of three successive draws and a resounding win over lowly Blackpool to face the much impressive Liverpool. This was by all means a must win game for the Gunners. Suarez and Carroll both started the match in an attacking Liverpool
formation,  but Kenny Dalglish’s team was happy to park the bus and defend.
Like always Arsenal dominated possession and the lack of offensive steel shown by the away team meant that Suarez and Carroll were largely ineffective. Despite creating numerous chances and having a firm foothold over the possession, Arsenal failed to score
a goal and the match proceeded into 8 lengthy minutes of stoppages.
Arsenal kept on piling the pressure, but all efforts seemed futile and every strike fruitless. Arsenal fans were instilled with belief when Spearing fouled Fabregas inside the box and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 proceeded to convert the penalty and send the fans into
jubilation.
However sloppy play by Song gifted the away team with a needless free-kick at the edge of the penalty box. Suarez lined up for the free-kick and blasted it against the wall and that should have been the last play of the match. The referee allowed the ensuing
melee and the ball deflected to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 who was bundled over by a hapless Eboue.
Kuyt converted a 101st minute penalty and Arsenal dropped a further two points during this critical period for the gunners. This was the first step before a steep fall. A 3-3 draw with the North London rivals, Tottenham, and a last minute Bolton
winner saw their title hopes extinguished.
It did not surprise most people who had already foreseen a failed campaign for the North London club.
