Fabio Capello
Teams managed: AC Milan, Real Madrid, AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, Juventus FC and England
Active years in management: 19
Don http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 manager. After a successful playing career where he played for Italian giants such as AC Milan and Juventus, Capello
started his managerial career with AC Milan with whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 1993-94.
Capello moved on to Real Madrid in 1996 where he won the league with Los Merengues. While the European cup triumph with Milan is the only Champions League medal in Capello’s cabinet, domestic success has followed Capello wherever he has gone. Don Fabio has
won nine league titles in his 19 years of management – impressive statistics.
After a league winning stint with Real Madrid in 2009, Capello was appointed as England manager amidst vast media attention. Even though The Three Lions qualified for the World Cup finals in emphatic style, their performances in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 2010 left a
lot to be desired. England were humiliated by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in the round-of-16, as British media were left with plenty to write about.
Many expected the manager to get the sack, but to the surprise of many Capello was kept in charge of the team. The Italian has publicly declared that he wishes to call it a day after EURO 2012, but a call from Massimo Moratti with the promise of an exorbitant
retirement fund might be too good an offer to refuse.
Capello is a winner and that is just what Inter Milan require right now; a manager who can reinstate the winning mentality from last season. Should the appointment happen, it would be an ideal match. However a lot will depend on the resources that the Inter
President is willing to spare.
Frank Rijkaard
Teams managed: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 and Galatasaray
Active years in management: 12
Frank Rijkaard is one of the most successful player turned managers. The legendary Dutchman has the honour of being one of the few men who have managed to win the UEFA Champions League as both a player and manager.
After a legendary playing career, where Rijkaard played for the likes of Ajax Amsterdam, Sporting Lisbon and AC Milan, Rijkaard started his managerial career with the Dutch national team – huge responsibility to start off with.
Under his guidance the Oranje qualified for the semi-finals of Euro 2000, where Rijkaard’s men lost out to Azzurri on penalties. The national team job was followed by a stint at Sparta Rotterdam, which ended in failure. Rijkaard was given the sack by the
Dutch Eredivisie side, thus leaving him free to join FC Barcelona.
Rijkaard was a massive success at the Camp Nou. The club managed to win everything there was to offer. With the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldinho-c31733 playing for the Dutch manager, Barca were the best team on the planet from 2004 to 2006. The Catalans won
two La Liga titles, and a Champions League trophy under his guidance. However the team slowly fell apart, and Barca were forced to let go of the talented manager.
Rijkaard managed Turkish side Galatasary most recently, but the stint in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 bore no fruits and Rijkaard is a free agent right now. Rijkaard comes from the Johan Cruyff school of thought – attacking and beautiful football – and the Nerazzurri simply don’t
have the personnel to suit his tactics. Should Frank Rijkaard be appointed, as certain sections of the press are speculating, it would be a failure. A manager of Rijkaard’s qualities will need to make his own squad before any positive outcome can be expected
of him.
