The Government communications section has been scraping the barrel for some time now since flying the false flag of 'Weapons of mass destruction' for broadcasting sensational stories through the establishment news syndicates to keep the narrative of international Islamic based terrorism alive that makes a credible link to their 'just military cause' in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There is nothing worse than empty rhetoric in the ears of soldiers, so together with Gordon Brown's visit to the troops timed to coincide with a 'scoop' story about a plan of assassination, the troops' suspicion they are being exploited by a Government to do the dirty work for long term interests of trans-national energy tycoons is replaced by a sense of nationalistic pride... for now.

But when the troops come home and read all the books about the real world of corporate power they will not be so nationalistic.

Perhaps John Pilger or Naomi Klein of Noam Chomsky or George Monbiot ought to pay soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan a ministerial visit instead of Gordon Brown and explain to them on behalf of a very disgruntled British Public that their role is not as clear cut as the military establishment would have them believe.

The assassination of the British political elite is the subject of much discussion across a wide variety of extremist forums just as is the bombing of citizens a much discussed strategy in NATO forums.

God, this Government is full of double standards and not worthy of public support.

Not really, it was the position of Prime Minister they were targeting, not the individual. Whoever was PM would have been targeted

Yes, however as Gordon is well protected it would be the protectors who would have died. the sooner Brown is removed from office the better, hopefully the Labour conference will see a challenge, although with the country in the state that he has made it I doubt if anyone else will want to take over now.

If we gave medals to everybody who issues threats against the scowling incompetent, then we would soon run out of medals. Conversely, if we arrested them all, virtually the whole population of Great Britain would be locked up in gaol.
