We're five females from the same family visiting family in Bangkok then going onto visit Koh Samed and Phuket and if we've got time maybe Koh Samui. We're on a budget and looking for reasonable accommodation. Should we rent two rooms or is it more economical to rent a villa or are these more expensive? Also looking to visit a zoo or animal sanctuary where the younger members of our group could get the opportunity to feed tiger cubs and see monkeys!!!

  1. To hire an apartment or a villa, the minimum letting period would be for one month, the norm is usually 3-6 months, so that's out. Rooms appear to be the best alternative, as in Thailand you pay the fee regardless of how many occupants per room. Don`t take a room if they try to charge per head. Unfortunately you haven`t stated when you`re going , as I could have given you a rough idea on prices, but these will vary according to season, as will the resort you`re in at the time. Availability will be fine providing it`s not in December or January. There`s loads of good sites to look up for entertainment, but the best advice will be to ask the locals, they`ll only be too pleased to help you especially when there`s youngsters involved. Have a great time.

  2. First of all KO samet is cheap for travel but not accomodation.

How long you going to stay :)?

If you going south anyway try Krabi....Go to KO lanta-PP island You can find room 3 euro per 1 person then you get your privacy as well.

on ko PP have many dorm and cheap too.take a boat ride to monky island like 5 mins from PP :D

Most of bungalow are 10 euro for 2 or 3 people with toilet inside. You won't be disappointed going to Krabi...

Not guaruntee KO samet it pretty bad nowaday..

And if you already visit Krabi then Phuket isn't much more than Krabi and can be more expensive.

Chane your trip to KAnchanburi to tiger temple. :)

it's not so far from bangkok.

The you will have chance to enjoy both river in kanchanburee and seaside in Krabi too :)

Anyway Already get vote down but what da heck...You can check www.travellertrips.webs.com...just for your clue why Krabi check island paradise ..:)

  3. i  think a villa  will  be  more  expensive!

  4. Usually the rooms that would accommodate 5 like a 2 bedroom suite are more expensive then a couple of rooms and they are harder to find.

The money show on Koh Samui is fun.  They teach them to run up trees and pick coconuts.

  5. For Samet hotel, I’d recommend Sai Kaew Beach Resort. Great value for the money, good for families, couples, old or young. location is brilliant since you have the best of both worlds- the nearby beach restaurants and bars as well as the privacy of a relatively uncrowded beach. TV had sport and movie channels in English. The food was also very very nice. Cheaper eating spots are an easy walk away and tides not a hindrance. 68USD (discount from 117USD) for Oct http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels...  .

Phuket: I'd recommend Woraburi Phuket Resort.  Relatively cheap and great value for the money. A nice hotel with good service. We specially recommend the rooms with pool access. That is pure luxury! I stay in 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world and from my perspective, this hotel was surprisingly good in every way! Great restaurants next door and Massage. Fresh fruit cart on the corner. http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels...

Don't miss Siam Paragon- A upmarket mega mall with a department store and many high end boutiques and shops. This is a family destination with something for everyone - Siam Ocean World at the basement should keep the kids busy while the serious shopper is at work. Exit at BTS Siam Station which leads to level 2 of this mall. Connected with other shopping mall : Discovery, Siam Centre and MBK. So if you want to have some serious shopping, this is the perfect place.  Have a nice trip!
