Five players to watch for in the Copa America semi-finals – Copa America 2011 (Part 2)
After expanding on the likes of Muslera in goal for Uruguay and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peru-c2981, it is time to shed some light on the remaining new players in this list of five players to watch out for in the Copa America
semi-finals...
Diego Forlan
Forlan did not have the best of seasons with Atletico Madrid before the 2011 Copa America but the Uruguay striker has a tendency to shine at the biggest stage just as he did in the FIFA 2010 World Cup for his national team side.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, the former Manchester United striker is facing stiff competition for a starting place in the national team side now but Forlan can do himself and his team a massive favour
by returning to form against Peru in the semi-finals.
In the on-going Copa America, Forlan has been a subdued figure thus far as he has not opened his goal scoring account up till now. However all that can change against Peru when Forlan takes the stage as Uruguay’s captain. The South
American giants have a wonderful chance of winning the tournament after Brazil and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Uruguay-c3035 to glory.
Juan http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-c13609 Arango
The Venezuelan midfielder was inspirational in his team’s quarterfinal win over Chile in the 2011 Copa America. Arango assisted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Venezuela-c3039’s first goal of the match but his influence was visible all throughout the match as he directed
the Venezuelan midfield traffic. In the second half after Venezuela scored their second goal of the match, Arango adopted a defensive midfield position and halted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871’s offensive approaches.
Arango’s ambitious approach has given rise to the belief that he is Venezuelan football’s next big thing. He is a leader on the field for his team and not only that, the young playmaker is also exceptional at set pieces for the
South American underdogs. It will be interesting to see how Venezuela do against Paraguay in the semi-finals as both the teams are evenly matched which means that Arango’s creativity might just be the key to win the match for Venezuela.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Justo-Villar-c20162
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 after they defeated the defending champions on penalties. It was an enthralling experience
for the Paraguayan national team which did wonderfully well in the normal time to restrict Brazil to a goalless draw. Villar was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet for 120 minutes as he denied http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 striker’s time and again with their efforts on goal.
Moreover, Villar’s dominance at the back resulted in an increased amount of confidence within his team’s defence. In the semi-finals, Villar will be expected to do an even better http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 considering that his team will be without their
star centre back Antolin Alcaraz. Paraguay have got what it takes to make it to the final but they can’t do so without Villar and his experience in between the goalposts.
