Five runners to take part in Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes (Group 2)
Only five runners will be taking part in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes (Group 2) at Leopardstown in Ireland on Sunday, May 13, 2012. The winner of the event will bag a cash prize of €61,750.
The stamina of all runners will be tested to some extent in the race, which has an overall distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs to cover. Following are the runners, who will be seen in action at Leopardstown: Wrote, Light Heavy, Tower Rock, Hit The Jackpot
and Calgacus.
Looking at the overall statistics of the runners, the bookmakers believe that Wrote has the best chances of winning, thus they have awarded him with the best odds. His recent form has also been impressive, which means that the punters will also be encouraged
to place the maximum number of bets in his favour.
The three-year-old colt has participated in six races until now, winning three of them. In addition to that, he has managed to secure the third place on the same number of times, which means that he has never dropped out of the top three until now.
The A. P. O'Brien’s trainee was rated as favourite in his most recent race as well, but he failed to meet the expectations of the bookies. However, his performance was still not bad, as he managed to finish third overall. He will need to make an improvement
in order to turn things around at Leopardstown today.
Wrote will be ridden by Ryan Moore in the race. The veteran jockey has got a terrific record and is considered to be one of the best in the business. He has managed to win numerous races at this level at a decent strike rate and will be looking forward to
another impressive run.
On the other hand, Light Heavy might also attract some bets in his favour today, as he has got an impressive record in his career until now. He has managed to win a couple of events out of three attempts. Moreover, he has one runner up finish to his name,
which shows the kind of form he is in at the moment.
The three-year-old colt will definitely give a tough time to his rivals at Leopardstown today.
