Five steps Dallas Mavericks need to take to clinch the NBA title – NBA Special (Part-1)

After sweeping the two-time defending Champions Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks have managed to take control over the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association Finals. Fuelled with the determination to land their
first Championship Trophy, the Mavericks have showed no signs of retreat throughout this year’ play-offs and stamped their might on the one of the most formidable combinations, the league has witnessed in some years – the Miami Heat.
Accompanied by the brilliance of the German Sharp-shooter Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas are leading the best-of-seven-game series 3-2 and both the teams will be playing the remaining two games at the American Airlines Arena. At the start
of the series, Nowitzki dominated the proceedings for the Mavericks single-handedly, however the team has received a huge boost from Jason Terry in the last two games and the result has been two straight wins.
Now, what Mavericks need is a final push in the series to clinch the title they have been waiting for a longer period. Six most important things they need to do in the upcoming showdown are discussed below.
Give the ball and the minutes to Dirk Nowitzki
The Mavs are just a victory away from clinching the Larry O’Brien Trophy as their influential power forward Dirk Nowitzki has been the overriding power throughout their successful journey. The Mavericks have to give one final push
to the Miami Heat who is standing on the brink of elimination to seal their first championship and this can be done best by playing the All-Star Nowitzki for the maximum time in the game-6 of the finals.
The veteran shooter Jason Kidd said, “He’s been in this position before in ‘06 and they’ve put teams around Dirk for a while now, and he hasn’t gotten back here. He’s enjoying the moment but he’s also focused and understands how
hard it is to win a championship.”
The 32-year-old Dirk not only stimulates the offensive system for Dallas, the 7 footer also guards the rim like a beast which has restricted the invincible trio LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh of Miami Heat from providing
their best. Nowitzki has showcased another brilliant aspect of his extra-ordinary game-play during the series against Miami Heat, sparking the team dominantly in the crunch time. In all of the Mavericks’ three victories, Miami was leading with a compressive
margin in the fourth quarter when the big man took the possession of the ball and smashed the opposition out of the game.
Nowitzki is the person who wants this championship the most among all the players. He has been striving to lead his team for the title since more than a decade so Dallas needs to give him the full opportunity so he can make it
happen this time.
The reserve guard Terry said on Nowitzki, “Dirk is our key player. The team’s strategy is made around him. He is the reason for our success.”
The most special aspect of Dirk’s game-play this time is his frame of mind and strong determination that has propelled him to provide fireworks even with a high fever during game-4. The big man is not ready to give up at any situation
so playing him for the maximum time possible will be the key to success.
