Five steps Dallas Mavericks need to take to clinch the NBA title – NBA Special (Part-2)
Encourage Jason Terry
Jason Terry had a slow start in the NBA Finals, however in the last two games; he has shown how threatening he can be down the stretch. Especially on Thursday, the 33-year-old reserve guard sparked the Dallas Mavericks with two
blistering blows from beyond the arc in the defining moments of the game and crushed Miami Heat’s efforts to make a comeback in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks should encourage Terry to carry the action once again for the team in the upcoming showdown. Everybody knows he is a flawless shooter as he proved in the last win.
Dirk Nowitzki was very happy to see Jason who is nicknamed as ‘JET’ back in action and said, "JET was phenomenal. He was aggressive again from the get-go. ... That's the JET we need. We need him to attack and get in the lane. It
opens up a lot of stuff for everybody else out there."
Jason is meant to be a finisher so the Mavericks need to give him confidence and support the veteran player to finish the job for the team in the game-6.
Keep the defensive pressure intact
Apart from Nowitzki, one of the biggest challenge Miami has faced against the spirited Dallas Mavericks is their unyielding defensive system. Despite of having a number of best shooters in the line-up, the Heat had struggled against
Mavericks defence.
Dallas should continue to stimulate their defensive strategy in the next meetings and at the same time fire up the offense commandingly. The strategy has helped them to overpower the Heat even after they procured a compressive
advantage in the game.
Finish it in the game-6
The remaining two games will be played at the American Airlines Arena, Miami Heat’s own building. So it is essential for the Dallas Mavericks is to continue their winning streak and win the NBA Finals series on Sunday.
If Miami manages to win the game-6, the pressure will be on the Mavericks than in the seventh game of the series. As a result of the home court advantage and immense support from the crowd, Miami will be more confident and dominant
to clinch the championship title.
The only way for Dallas to stop this from happening is to wrap up another victory in the game-6 and instead of spending few more days in Miami, come back home and celebrate the moment.
Keep LeBron James behind the scene
The Mavericks succeeded in overcoming one the biggest threat they had to face against Miami Heat. They hampered the two-time MVP champion LeBron James from taking control which became the reason of their success.
Everybody knows that James can make a comeback any time. He has been carrying the Heat commandingly throughout the play-offs however failed to carry the momentum against the veteran power of Dallas.
So before James recovers from his struggle, the Mavericks should take charge in the next game and keep him behind the scene. Because if James recuperates, he can be as good as Nowitzki and will bring Miami back in the contention.
