Five veterans who could lead Arsenal to glory - Part 1
The news headlines are once again flooded with Arsenal’s failure to win a single trophy this season extending their barren run to six years now. Despite the fact that they pay aesthetically beautiful football pleasing to the eye, they have lacked leadership
and therefore have stumbled on numerous occasions this season making a title even more elusive.
Arsenal youth academy is pumping out offensive minded players by the numbers and the youth policy of the Arsenal manager mean that these players are flourishing under his guidance. You can safely compare Arsenal with MIT who have continually pumped out top
class scientists. Defensive players, especially centre backs is a totally different subject altogether. It’s not that the youth system in place at Arsenal is not producing centre backs, but it’s just that apart from one or two, Arsenal doesn’t seem to have
any who are good enough. No defensive prospects are there out there now who are ready to jump into the first team. The gunners don’t need quality in their squad. They already are overflowing with quality.
What Arsenal needs is a leader. A leader who can inspire the team and motivate them to higher levels needed to bring a trophy into the empty Arsenal cabinet. The Gunners need a certain edge to their free flowing football style with steel down the spine of
the team. The best way for Arsenal to do this is by adding some experience plugging the gaps in their youthful squad. This does not certainly mean that experience should only be added in the defence. Arsenal certainly needs a proven leader in the middle of
the park and although we have a leader in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 up front, we need another one to push the Gunners through.
A genuine leader is absolutely necessary if Arsenal is to have any chance of silverware next season. Arsene Wenger will do business as usual in this summer transfer window bringing in young superstars in the making who will mature for a couple of seasons
before they can actually break into the first team even if they are too young to be able to lead on the pitch. This summer, the Arsenal management has announced that they have made available to the manager 50-million-pounds in transfer money and Wenger has
made strong indications that he is going to spend each and every penny to bring in genuine experienced title contenders for a strong next season.
Safe to say this time around the club is heading in the right direction. The only problem however is that the players who are sufficiently experienced and are able to pull on the red and white of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 are not available or have committed their future to
their current club and those who are available, are at extremely high prices and have a lot of clubs fighting for their signatures. Lower clubs like West Ham United relegated to the championship, will see a mass exodus of highly paid players who will not be
content with playing in the lower division.
