Fivestar Bessy upsets Skywalker Jack in OWLERTON BOOKMAKERS PUPPY 480 – DUPLICTAED at Sheffield on Jan 31
Skywalker Jack, trained by E Soppitt, showed an excellent run all the way through, but could not surpass Fivestar Bessy, in the OWLERTON BOOKMAKERS PUPPY 480 – DUPLICTAED. The 480 metre long Grade OR event held at Sheffield on Tuesday, January 31,
2012.
With the 11 to 10 betting odds under his belt, Wheres Pedro’s son out of Mercury Queen, started off the show as the most favourite hound. However, he was slightly helpless in front of Fivestar Bessy, who grabbed the top position by three quarters of
a length.
The black b***h was holding the winning chances of 11 to 2 - one of the lowest in the heat. However, C R Lister’s trainee didn’t look behind after setting off from the fourth stall. She bridged the distance in 28.51 seconds, winning a cash prize of
£200.
Despite the fact that Skywalker Jack ran at a high speed after being crowded early, he was unable to match the pace of the triumphant. The son of Wheres Pedro out of Mercury Queen took 28.57 seconds to wrap up the show.
The third and fourth position respectively was locked by Ballymac Miriam, and Rockview Impact – the two hounds with the 6 to 1 odds, each. The brindle and white b***h, trained by E T Parker, made it to the finishing line in 28.61 seconds, securing
the third place.
She was in good position to get a better position, but remained behind by half a length. Failing to make an impact, Rockview Impact finished fourth in the list. His covering time was 28.83 seconds, 6 ½ lengths ahead of his nearest chaser.
Anfi Belle managed to beat, Newinn Jack, to ensure fifth spot on the table. The least favourite hound, carrying the starting price of 10 to 1, touched the ultimate point in 29.35 seconds.
Premier Fantasy’s daughter out of Anfi Pearl finished three lengths before the Back Marker.
Newinn Jack was enjoying the odds of 3 to 1 – the second highest in the race. However, his performance was poor on the track. The blue dog raced along the rail early on, and was badly bumped in the later part of the contest. The J D. Davy-trained dog
crossed the line in 29.59 seconds.
Fivestar Bessy’s victory against the race favourite was certainly a huge achievement. This would have also boosted the confidence of her trainer and connections.
