I have a question about contiuing fixing a car or buying another car. I currently have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird V6 2.8L 5-Spd Manual T-Tops and Trans Am Ground Effects. The car needs a new rear end. Weld sheet metal in the floor theres a spot that has rotted through. New paint and new tires . It has 166,239 miles on it. My friend might buy a 1988 Trans Am and i would pay him 200 dollars and could take a new rear from that car plus a couple more parts and his uncle would help me install it for extremly cheap. We replaced a battery, water pump on it already. It dosen't have an good inspection sticker on it. Or i could sell that car and buy a 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL 5-Spd 141,000 miles for 5,995. I would have to finace it after putting a down payment on it. What would be better in the long run. I have school coming uo and make about 234 a week with only car insurance to pay for. What would insurance rates be like on this kinda of car. I'm 19 been driving for 1 year, with no accidents.

  1. Insurance will probably be the same. The Mitsu will be a little better on gas. However, you already know what's wrong with the Firebird, The 3000GT is just a whole new set of questions. Plus, parts are cheaper for the Firebird and it's paid for. I would prefer to have a 3000GT but in your case you may be better staying with what you've got for now.

  2. well it depends if you like your current car. Anyways if you decide to get something else i wouldn't get a 3000gt. Specially with all those miles and for that price. You can find somenhing way better for that price, but if you like the gt then its your money spend it on what you want.

  3. when it cost more to keep it going than it cost to get another you know its time to give it up.. id hold on to it and save some money up and get a better one .....91 for 5,995 is way high ... i could get two cars thats better for that price
