  1. yes if use a chissel and a hammer i just did it today make sure u put the inside part of the chain in the outside part so its not bent

  2. Not if you want to put it back together again.

  3. Well if your chain has a master link, you can just take it off with your hands by removing the little clip that keeps it in place.

  4. like caleb said but rest the part of the link that contains the pin on a really small socket so the pin can drop through when u hammer.

  5. if you want to wrench your bike yourself, show it some respect and use the proper tools! would you want your barber to take out a box cutter and wire snips the next time you sat down for a hair cut? I got a set of park tools in a toolbox for about $120. a chainbreak, the proper tool to use for removing and reattaching your chain, will run you about $10 on its own. when you f-up your chain with the hammer and chisel, expect to pay around $30 for a new chain.

  6. yes theres an easy way that i use. get a little clamp or something to hold it on and get a nail and hammer and tap the pin until it comes out. then put more links on it and then lay the chain on the ground so you can hit the pin back threw..

    works great for me
