Question:

Fixing a black and decker trimmer spool feed?

I have one of those black and decker "grasshog" battery operated weed trimmers. Its a "no tap" automatic feed line, last week I went to knock off some loose grass on it to clean it off and accidentally bumped the spool housing (or whatever you call it). The whole thing fell of off, not only the housing for the spool, but also the back casing that goes up kinda of inside the trimmer. There is a pin sticking out of the trimmer with plastic groves around it which is supposed to snap into the piece that fell out. I have tried to snap it back on but it keeps falling off. I know its hard to get a visual lol the way I described it..but was wondering if someone who owns one of these had this problem too and knows how to fix it? Thanks.

  1. i have one that may be somewhat similar, so I'll give it a SMALL try. when you put everything back together you have to hold it all in place until yo can put the bottom piece back on, which snaps in place therefore holding everything else in place.   maybe your missing that piece or your just not placing it in the correct position to let the two snap pieces snap in place.

when you take them apart, you have to push in on those to pieces in order to put new spools on.

some are held on the bottom with a bolt, but mine is not that type.     it's similar to what you describe and it is a black and Decker, but mine has a bump feed.    i find the trimmer cord last longer if you learn how to run the trimmer at it's lowest speed and even by jerking the trigger quickly.

SPEED KILLS the trimming twine when it hits obstacles other than grass.

    good luck to ya
