Question:

Fixing scratches on prescription glasses?

I have seen ads on TV about products that can fill-in scratches on prescription eyeglasses. Has anyone ever tried this on a pair of prescription eyeglasses with success?

  1. That same stuff comes back out every few years, since the late 70's...and it never has worked.

All it does is make a greasy coating on your lenses, that washes off again after you clean your glasses a few times.

Scratches couldn't possibly  be filled in with anything but a material of the same optical quality and clarity as the original lenses are made of...so, therefore it is impossible.

So...when optical lenses are scratched, they have to be replaced.

  2. I have anti-glare coating on mine so I'd never try it.  Ask your eye doctor or try it on an old pair that you have laying around first.  I honestly don't think it would work or places you buy glasses would sell it.
