Hello, recently I started an indoor garden. I use soil not hydroponics by the way. FOr now wen plants sprout I have Flourescent lights on the way. But People recommend HID, HPS, and MH (Metal Halide) bulbs. I'm prepared to order one, but do they need a special fixture. Or can I just s***w these bulbs in any lamp.

  1. You need a ballasted fixture and can not just put a bulb in an ordinary light socket. You want a minimum 1000 watt set-up and the cheapest deal going is high pressure sodium parking lot lights. Be aware though that that kind of wattage is expensive to run and there is huge fire possibilities from heat. And for those in the crowd that want to grow herb at home, you get use to the smell and don't notice it at all, but EVERYONE that comes to visit for whatever reason will notice it before you even open the door. Hint hint hint!
