Fizzy Missus fizzles in A6 race at Kinsley
Greyhound racing fans were treated to an exciting 14-race card at Kinsley Greyhound Stadium in West Yorkshire last night. Each 462m race provided all the action needed for a great Sunday afternoon at the races.
The racing action began with an A6 race at 14:28. Before the race, odds makers staked Fizzy Missus as the favourite to win with 5-2 odds. However, Ballymac McCabe (4-1) leaped over her in the standings to take the victory in 28.48. Coming out of trap four, Ballymac McCabe slowly moved away from the pack, and finished well.
Fizzy Missus finished in second place, two lengths behind the victor in 28.64. She has been active for nearly a year, and her best results were back-to-back first-place finishes on 21 and 28 May. She has racked up a total of six wins in her career.
The third spot went to Hill Supreme (3-1), who was only a ½ length behind Fizzy Missus. He finished the race with a time of 28.68. Hold On Betty (4-1) held on to a clear run, but finished in 28.72 to claim fourth place, a ½ length behind third.
Lord Boris held an early pace coming out of trap three, but failed to crack the top three, finishing the race in 28.94 to earn fifth place. He was 2 ¾ lengths behind Hold On Betty. Backroad Penske finished in the back of the pack, 1¼ lengths behind fifth place with a time of 29.04.
The second race of the afternoon was an A4 race held at 14:44. Coming into this race, Stella Ella Ola was billed as the 2-1 favourite. But Stella’s finish was less than stellar, as she ended up in sixth place. Russanda Loyal (6-1) was the winner, with a good finish of 28.63. He crowded first, and led from third after he emerged from trap five.
Dash On Joy (7-2) made a mad dash for first place, but wound up in second with a time of 28.67. This placed him only a ½ length behind Russanda Loyal. Coming out of trap six, he quickly moved away from the pack, and led until he crowded first.
Finishing in third place was Athlacca Eagle (3-1). He was only a head behind second place, and finished the race in 28.68. The fourth-place finisher was Russanda Teddy, who challenged and forced to check third. He finished a shoulder behind Athlacca Eagle with a time of 28.69.
Dirk Box Flyer (4-1) couldn’t get off the ground, and ended up 3¼ lengths behind Russanda Teddy to claim fifth place, despite having a clear run. He checked in with a time of 28.95. The sixth and final spot went to favourite Stella Ella Ola, who finished in 29.09, 1¾ lengths behind the fifth-place finisher.
Next up was an A3 race at 14:58, which featured a 9-4 favourite in Milly The Boss. But Milly failed to take charge in this race, as she placed second in 28.24. Milly’s finish was 2¼ lengths behind the Dirk Box Chief (11-4), who won the race. He finished with a great time of 28.06. When he came out of trap four, he moved quickly way from the rest of the pack, and always led.
Galtee Jennifer (7-2) was the third-place finisher. She was 1½ lengths behind Milly The Boss with a time of 28.36 and a clear run. Confident Lunar’s (4-1) confidence was not enough to get him a win, as he placed fourth in 28.56, 2½ lengths behind third place.
Bringing up the rear were fifth- and sixth-place dogs Hi Hoy Harriet (5-1), and Derrevrin No One (5-1), respectively. Hi Hoy Harriet finished with a time of 28.58, which put her behind Condifent Lunar by only a neck. Derrevrin No One was 3¼ lengths behind Hi Hoy Harriet with a 28.84 finishing time.
The greyhound racing action at Kinsley Greyhound Stadium continues on 31 August with an exciting 11-race card. The first race is scheduled to begin at 18:38.
