Hello

I have sent a document with DHl express to Athens and I told them to go and collect the package the next day after they have delivered it. i sent the Package on Tuesday from the local DHL office and it arrived on Wednesday. The same day that it arrived to Athens i called them the DHL to go and collect it and bring it back before Friday. I got a flight on Friday and need the documents. The thing is that they are telling me that no one called them and told them to go and collect the package. But I did call them, the bad thing is that I did't got the name of the guy with whom I was talking. I again just called them to see what happens, maybe they had confused things and waiting for a call from them. What can I do. I do really need the documents. Should I take them to court. I paid them 150$ for getting it there and collecting it back. Please Help Me.

  1. Too cheap to FedEx, you paying the same now...

  2. You can use a copy of your tracking label  call the 800# give them the track number ask them for the history of the package(who logged it in and such when someone logs a package in at a carrier like this they assign it a tracking number or confirmation number)also get the pickup number(they will assign a pickup number to it)also take down who you talk with this time(date time id number etc)call the 800 number and file a verbal claim(with most delivery companies you have 10 days to file a verbal claim and 15 days to file a written claim I know with DHL you have 30 days from the date of delivery or pickup to do such)send the info on the package that you have along with a copy of the documentation that you have to their main office(when you send it do so certified mail with a return receipt)go to the websiteand find out who the CEO is it will usually have it listed(this will save you time and some trouble in the long run)the CEO may not get it but usually the CEO will have x amount of secaraties that will get any and all mail that come his way(the secarities are more or less the CEO voice they say what does and doesn't go on and if they get treated badly whoever does it isn't around long) Also call them(please remember to be extra courteous the voice of the CEO thing and such)and also document who you talk to and if you send the info in jot a note about that too.  This will put you at the top of the food chain so to speak and cut out a lot of red tape and aggravation in the short and long run.  What is most likely going to happen is that you will be assigned a case or report number keep that in along with the documentation then this puts the ball in DHL court and they will do a backtrack investigation and will find out who took your order the driver etc and they will usually have a manager who is a hard--- to do this and also if possible ask the 800 number for proof of delivery and make a copy of that too.  Then if you  have tried all of this and do it quickly then call the main office and start talking about court and remind them of the info you already have that gets things stepped up some more a lot more.  I have to say this about DHL there are some good people there but the thing about it is that they have such a high turnover in all depts that they can't or don't keep enough good people there to keep things running smoothly.  I would say in the future go with Fed Ex or UPS they have a better track record.  DHL has to give customers huge discounts to make any type of profit.  Its ridicilous at best.  Hey man I feel you on this one.  Also the route drivers may not get paid if they don't turn over a certian amount of packages.  It may also be possible to get the driver who picked and delivered your package to pay for it due the the fact that it was a mssed drop and pickup

  3. I understand your situation so well.  Courier companies are basically all the same.

Courier companies cover themselves very well and if you do not have physical proof that you have ordered a collection then you have no grounds to take them to court.  It is really frustrating.

Besides that, the people you are dealing with when you call or speak to a courier company are only employees and they couldn't care less if something you are sending doesn't arrive, get damaged or lost or whatever.

If you have done it via email or fax and received confirmation, then you have legal grounds to take them to court.

The other way is if you have paid by credit card and on your credit card statement it will show that you paid for the service, but you still need proof of when exactly the service should have been provided.

In the future make sure you are covered with physical proof of your collection request.  Otherwise you will always be pulling on the losing end and the courier company will just pull their shoulders up and say they know nothing.

Even if you had the name of the guy you spoke to, he could play innocent and say that you never confirmed that you want to have a collection.

Since I've been burned a few times I now use UPS and have created an online account and use their online system to create all my shipments, that way I have physical proof that I've requested deliveries or collections.

Sorry that there is no better news in this case.
