Flagstaff is the way to go. If you move just outside of Flagstaff then you will be okay as the college kids live mostly in the downtown areas.

Flagstaff is an old lumber town situated on old route 66 and home to NAU Lumberjacks College. Grand Canyon Village is in a National Park so there is no town, the closest town is Tusayan and very small caters to tourists mostly about 65 miles from the interstate and Flagstaff. Flagstaff really has no bad side of town it's all good.
