  1. We often associate one image to a country even if that is not the reality. For example beret for France, the cow boys for the USA, Cocain for Colombia, and Flamenco for Spain

  2. Flamenco is unique to Spain so obviously it is mentioned in most travel films and seen in most films about the country.

I suppose most Spaniards are pretty ignorant about their own country, just ;like most people in the world. Often foreigners have travelled more widely.

As you say, Spain has a very rich and varied collection of cultures.

As one of my Spanish friends says, ' the real Spain is only 100 metres from the roadside'.

    .

  3. It is called stereotypes. As you said before it is like saying that all Americans eat BigMacs and wear cowboy boots. We are more than than.

  4. I am please to say i have made Spain my home for the past ten years or  so,The flamenco is a dance that tells a story and you are correct the regional dance of ANDALUCIA and is also danced   appreciated and enjoyed through out ESPANA.

  5. There are even some people that think that we all Spanish girls dress with the Flamenco dots dress and the carnation on our hair everyday! OLE! OLE y OLE! :p
