The Brazilian giants, Flamengo, have acquired the services of Starlet Airton from the Lisbon-based outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542, on a temporary basis.
Javi Garcia’s performances have forced the player to return to former club, but the player is relishing the return to his native land.
"I am very happy with my return to Flamengo. I hope to repeat the good work I made in my first stint at the club and, like back then, win titles.” Airton beamed.
"The time I spent in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 was very good for my career. It helped me and I have matured. It will undoubtedly help my performances at the club." He concluded.
The highly-rated youngster started his career in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 of Nova Iguaçu and his performances earned him a loan to Mesquita, although he was partly owned by Nova Iguaçu and Traffic, an investors group. He officially signed for Flamengo in 2008, making
his debut against Vasco de Gama.
His performances for the Vultures caught the eye of the Eagles, and they quickly landed their man by paying €1.1 million for 15 percent of his rights.
Although Airton played 19 matches for the Lisbon outfit, he was not able to crack the first team, mainly due to the performances of other players and has been loaned to his former club in order to gain some much needed experience.
Super Cup thriller set for 7th August
Serving as a prelude to the new season of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira is set to be played at Aveiro Municipal Stadium only two days before the season commences.
The game will kick earlier than expected due to the UEFA Europa League commitments of Vitoria Guimaraes, who face rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 in a rematch of the Portuguese Cup Final.
Guimaraes officially petitioned the Portuguese Football Federation to change the schedule of the game and the Federation was more than happy to cooperate.
The Game itself could prove to be a feisty one as Porto look to defend their titles, while Guimaraes will be back after a hectic qualifier to gain access to Europe’s second tier competition.
