Flash Memory? MiniDvD? Dvd?

Question

I'm thinking about buying my first camcorder. I want to know which format is easier to use? Which one do you think is better? Pros & Cons? I am in a limited budget, I'm ready to invest $200-350 on this cam. Please I appriciate any help you can give me.

Any brands better than others? Sony, Canon, Panasonic?

I think flash memory, that way it's really easy to store in your computer and edit it.  Then you can burn it to a DVD, keep in mind though that burning a DVD movie using your computer takes really long for some reason.  Canon is the best in my opinion, really durable and reliable.  You might want to do some research on the internet before spending so much money, like at sites like newegg.com and read the reviews on the product you want to buy, i'll give you the pros and cons of any specific product.

canon or JVC. no sony.

Flash memory = expensive, video quality will NOT be as good.    but quick swap of memory card.

mini DVD or DVD = cheap media  but NOT reusable and SLOW to swap out from  1 media to blank media.  But the other hand. you can put DVD right into your DVD Player. and watch it.  

I perfer DV tapes. or Hard drive based.    DV tapes are re-usable.    and usually have higher video quality for all of above.  Beside. I can always xfer those video to computer and do some edit for my own Home DVD...  with title/menu. etc .

I'd go for "none of the above"

I personally prefer simple DV tapes, because they're cheap, reusable and don't stutter or break as fast as dvd.

However, if you don't want to edit your tapes, and just get something easy to use, a dvd camera is probably best. You can get blank DVDs everywhere, and they hold a nice ammount of film. If you just want some homevideo, and don't intend to edit anything, this is probably for you.

If you want to edit your film, and want some good quality to use for it, a camera with DV or MiniDV tapes and a firewire port to the PC is probably a better option.

Never fall for build-in flash or harddisk cameras, without replaceable tapes, you always end up running out of "tape" when you least want it.

As for which brand is better is a hard question. None of them is really better, but certain models can be quite a bit better.
