Flashes in eyesight?

I seem to occasionally get flashes in my eyesight. This happens only once in a while, but it happens enough to worry me. Something flashes in my eyesight, and I can't see for a few seconds. When this happens, my head hurts, and it seems to get hot. What is going on, and how can i stop it from happening?

is it flashes of light or dark? it happens to me every now and again but when it does my eye sight goes compleatly black and i see a thing for about a min or 2. i then get a headach i pop so asprin and im good to go. i didnt really pay attention so im not sure if i get all hot but i might. Umm... you should get to a docter just in case you can never be to careful. I am a huge hypocondriac and very peranoid so i need to haha but docters scare me. my aunt is a nurse and i told her about it and she said it was nothing just to much blood getting to your brain or not enough and it happens to just about everyone a couple times at least. if it flashes white light im not to sure but yeah if its dark its most likely nothing like 90% that its harmless just a pain in the butt. hope you get it figured out ;)

Omg...I don't want to scare you but I was watching Discovery Health this weekend and there was a lady who was complaining about really bad headaches that would even made her stop going to work,then she developed another symptom similar to yours,she saw white lights,like flashes that even obstructed her sight,she was expecting the doctor to find something in her brain but the problem relied in her heart.It was a hole that we are all born with and that it was supposed to close on its own bit hers didn't and was causing her all these illnesses,she has surgery to close this hole in her heart.It's weird but yes,in some weird way this was related to her head as well.

So go get checked asap.God Bless you.
