Flashy Dresser triumphed over Gung Ho in the Rushaway Stakes
Flashy Dresser emerged victorious from the $75,000 Rushaway Stakes which took place on 24th March, 2012 at Turfway Park over 1 1/16 miles on a synthetic track.
Trained and owned by Fred Seitz, the son of Flashy Bull, out of Saltnvinegar, teamed with Luis Contreras, and took on the race track, entering with more motivation and fervour than in any other runner.
The three-year-old colt did not demonstrate any speed early on, but gained pace at the half-mile pole when he was threatened by stakes winner Gung Ho.
The pair was in contention, and fought for the first place all the way towards the end, through the final sixteenth of a mile where Flashy Dresser finally crossed the finish line by half a length, winning in 1 minute and 45.58 seconds.
Flashy Dresser’s previous performance at Gulfstream Park gives his connections the confidence for this race. On 4th March, 2012, Flashy Dresser defeated Unbridled’s Way on a track that covered 6 furlongs.
Gung Ho is a tough competitor, who has an impressive past record of his own. The three-year-old colt demonstrated potential in his career debut, as he acquired a placed position. He stood third in the Maiden Special Weight at Indiana Downs on 6th
July, 2011.
The son of Kitten’s Joy, out of Glory Dancer, exhibited his skill and talent once again in the Sunday Silence Stakes at Louisiana Downs on 10th September, 2011.
Under R.A Dominguez, he was caught up in midfield and short of room where he could gain speed. Dominguez guided him to the outside, as they neared the final furlong comfortably gaining speed and claiming the victory. Top Cat Boogie finished second by a marginal
difference of a neck.
Trained by Michael J. Maker for Kenneth L. & Sarah K. Ramsey, the young runner faced a setback in his last race of 2011. He finished in seventh place in a line-up of thirteen in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland on 8th October,
2011. The performance at Turfway Park was a redeeming factor as his connections were pleased with his second place finish.
