Question:

Flat Head on 4 month old...?

Hi there. My son Sebastian is 4 and a half months old and has a flat spot on the back of his head. I have read that this is purely a cosmetic defect, but was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this with their children and if the flat spot protruded over time.

He spends alot of time on his tummy and I sleep him on his side (supervised) during the day.

Is it because of the new SIDS recommendations that it has become so common?

Thanx in advance for your advice

Cheers

  1. my ped told me that when my daughter got more mobile and moving around it would fill in normally, so i didn't worry about it but nope, she's two and it is on the side of her head and if her hair is wet and you look at her from the back it's very obvious, so ask your pediatrician about ti

  2. yep my daughter had the same thing, she also had them on her sides of her head when she was younger. they go away as they get older, dont worry.  Good luck with your son!!!

  3. google 'noggin nest'

i know babies r us has them and they r great for swings and bouncers, strolllers, etc to help with the flat spot; and the minky one is sooo soft; they also make a denim one....

this is the one i have...

my gal is 2 mos, and everyone always comments on symmetrical her head and face are...so i must be doing something right i guess...also, forgot earlier, when you play with baby, do things that encourage him to turn his head to look around, i think that helps a lot, bc my gal turns her head side to side even when sleeping on her back, and she sits in the bumbo with my guidance of course at her age, but she loves to turn her head and see around her.....just a thought

  4. It's normal mine had the same thing they (say) that it's because they lay on their backs but it's not true
