Flat Out all set to score his first victory for trainer Bill Mott in the Grade 2 Monmouth Cup Stakes
Flat Out will take his first ride for trainer Bill Mott in the Grade 2 Monmouth Cup Stakes at Monmouth Park on 7th July, 2012, that holds a purse of $200,000.
Previously trained by Charles L. Dickey, he exhibited his racing skills when he landed a victory in the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup on 1st October, 2011, at Belmont Park, where he rode under the command of rider, Alex Solis
and defeated the Bill Mott trained, Drosselmeyer over the course of 1 ¼ miles.
Breaking from post 1, he will be ridden by rider Rosie Napravnik, with winning odds of 2-1, and the status of a favourite. He has been assigned 116 pounds, and will race against 5 other runners.
Bill Mott, who just took the son of Flatter under his wing, has decided to run the older division runner over a distance of a mile. He told the press that he has an unlucky streak but is returning to form.
Mott said:
"He had been given a freshening before I got him," the renowned trainer further added: "so we're just bringing him back off of a short vacation. He had nearly 60 days off and we're just making our first run with him since we got him. We're trying to
get ready for some of the bigger races down the road, but this would be a nice race to win, of course, a flat mile. At this point we need to get him started."
Mott has been taking the Preston Stables owned runner on a series of work-outs at the Saratoga Racecourse, and the runner seems to have adapted well to the ways of his new trainer.

On 25th June, 2012, the runner completed five furlongs in an impressive 1 minute and 01.12 seconds.
The runner covered the same distance on 31st May, 2012, and clocked in a time of 1 minute and 01.85 seconds.

On 7th June, 2012, he completed the five furlong course in 1 minute and 01.44 seconds. The practice runs and work-outs have been consistently improving, and the trainer tested him over four furlongs on 2nd
July, which he completed in 49.93 seconds.
