  2. In my opinion both are good. There are no bad reviews about LG since mine is flat tv and the company is LG.IT IS NICE.there are no problems till now.

  3. I work for a small electronics retailer and our buyers won't touch LG.  They say the construction is shabby and therefore less reliable, in general of course.

Here are somethings to look for in a flatscreen tv.

    1. Brightness- is the screen bright enough in the room that you'll be placing it?  If not then you might want to go with a brighter screen.  Brightness is measured in cd/sq.m., candela per square meter.  The bigger the number the brighter the screen.  Often you'll see a number anywhere from 250:1 to 500:1.  Does this mean that 500:1 is better than the 250:1?  Not necessarily.  Just find the one that best suits you.

    2. Contrast Ratio- in this case, the higher the better.  They usually range from 1000:1 to 10,000:1.  This just simply means that the with a higher contrast ratio you'll be able to see more clearly what's in the shadowy parts of the picture and also to be able to see subtle differences in color.

    3. Refresh Rate- measured in Hz, Hertz or cycles per second.  They usually range from 60Hz to 120Hz.  In general the higher the refresh rate the better the picture quality.  This is especially true in sporting events and other fast moving pictures.  The lower refresh rates have more noticeable "motion blur" than models with higher refresh rate.  You'll be able to see this quite clearly in the stores, you'll see a bunch of blurring on the picture when there is motion or the camera pans around a lot.  So be wary about this when making a purchase.

    4. Your opintion- This may be the most important factor.  Just go to some stores that have the TVs that you're interested in and find the one that looks best to you.  If at all possible, try to have the same thing showing on all the TVs that you are evaluating so that you'll be able to better judge picture quality.  Also make sure to have the salesperson put all the picture settings to "zero" or usually default so you'll be able to judge the screens without any extra calibrations.

Remember that all these things are just some of the things to look at when making a purchase but you are the ultimate judge in was is "best" and don't let anyone sway your decision.  Just feel good about your purchase and you can't go wrong.  If you're really worried about reliability then purchase an extended warranty.  I know that they get a bad rep but in my line of work I see what can go wrong with a TV and how much the repairs are if they are out of manufacturers warranty.  Good luck to you!

  4. in my opinion, LG make really good washing machines and dryers, their phones even suck!! you need to scratch a samsung, you would have to go with the big screens in samsung. Sony will make it happen for you as far as quality and durability. At the same time, when it all boil down, it depends on the person because some people are gamers and if you are a gamer, dont expect to keep the same TV forever. Game systems run through all tvs, they did in the old days and they're definately doin it now. keep it from under the sun, air conditioner vents, heaters, anything that is too hot or too cold. also dont overload your tv with gadgets, get PowerStations for all your dvd players, games, sound systems, they are easy to hook up and easy to control and easy to disconnnect or connect, plus it stops the overloading on your new tv.
