Flat hair, need HELP!?

Right now my hair is shoulder length , red-brown (Debra Messing color ). I am going back to my natural dark brown color this weekend. But my problem is… it’s always flat. If I put curls into it, they are gone in a couple of hours. I straighten it and it looks plastered to my head within a couple of hours. I desperately want more body. My mom suggested a perm. (Do people still get those?) I am always told how thick my hair is but I am beginning to wonder. Is there anything I can do to get more body and keep it? I haven't found any products that work and I am sick of throwing it into a ponytail. Thanks!

  1. have you tried teasing your hair....i have flat hair and i tease it everyday and then when i get in the shoer i just use ALOT of conditioner to get it out and i get alot of compliments on my hair.

if you dont know what teasing is they have tutorials on youtube i find this one to be most helpful...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdKcKRfZQ...

dont be fooled by the title its the best way to tease long AND short hair.

  2. If you are dying your hair this weekend back to your natural color I wouldn't perm it just yet. Yeah, people still get perms...my sister just got a perm not too long ago and it looks great. In my opinion I worry that will be too many chemicals on your hair to dye it and perm it at the same time. I think I would wait a while before I would perm it if that is what you are thinking. I like big s**y hair root pump to give my hair some volume..I put it at the crown of my head and then blow dry it. I also use Nioxin hair products for thinning and fine hair, but it's way expensive. I found Nutri-ox at Sally's beauty supply that is suppose to be just as good as Nioxin and it's way cheaper!  Hope this helps! Good luck.
