So, my boyfriend told me that the reason I should always use a phillip head s***w is because the flat heads strip easier. I just don't see how this is true. Then everone would use phillips head....if someone could please let me know it this is true or false.

  1. Yes it is true.  The reason the s***w was developed in the first place was because they are "self aligning" and can take more turning force before the screwdriver pops out.  Industry needed a s***w that would go in easier and be more foolproof for assembly lines at factories.

  2. It's true in the sense of if you don't use a flat head s***w driver that fits snug with not so much play in the slot, then the chances of you stripping it are easier.  With a Phillips, they fit right in and has 4 sides to catch.  I tend to use Phillips more then flat heads for that reason.

  3. This is true. Don't know why, but it just is.
