Question:

Flat ironing my hair?!?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

i have really thick, frizzy, curly hair. I have a really cheap flat iron, and whenever I flat iron my hair, it never comes out like a hair salon would do it.

Are there any tips or tricks to flat ironing my hair? any products? or should I just get a new flat iron all together?

  1. maxi glide hair straigner is really good

  2. Get a new flat iron , i recommend the CHI products they work the best for me

  3. i got the same problem , i got a flat iron but i dont use probucts. usually all i do is use my iron and wen ur hair is hot and steamy take a cloth and smooth it down so it can stay straight

  4. you could get a chi it works wayyy  better than a steam roller

    or

i used 2 use this stuff from herbal essences called flat out flat iron spray/ finnishing spray       it works really well on my hair

    hope i helped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. It is a bit pricey, but I suggest getting a Chi iron. I bought mine on e-bay for a little less than the actual price. I have really wavy hair, and it works wonders! It was well worth the money.

When you straighten your hair, always use a thermal protection spray. I suggest Chi 44 Iron Guard. Also, Straight s**y Hair smooth and seal is pretty good too!

    Hope this helped! :)

  6. well,  honestly i wouldn't try anything and altogether just buy a new flat iron. for a good flat iron ask your hair salonist and ask where they buy their flat irons. i to have the same hair as you. i also have a really cheap flat iron and it worked for a little, but then my hair would frizz up in like 10 minutes!! i was so mad because my hair isn't supposed to frizz up like that! so i went to my hair salonist and she said don't buy that kind because it is really cheap and it doesn't work. i guarantee you will find what  you want with this flat iron (forgot brand name) =[ but it really worked.

so for best results, just ask your hair salonist. :D

  7. you should get a new flat iron

and when you straighten it ,straighten in thin strips

    it comes out straighter

  8. get a new flat iron and stop being so cheap you starting to act like carlissa!!!

P.S. buy with the $100 that was missing from your cash drawer the other day!!!

  9. Get a Kiyoseki straightner.

i have one it works wonders.

  10. You definitely get what you pay for. Quality hair products will perform better then the cheapest. If you can't afford the best out there then just upgrade what you have. There are good products that don't cost a lot. Try different things. I know what works for one person may not work for someone else.

I have very curly hair and I had to relax it just to get the results I wanted when I flat ironed it. But chemical relaxer was my last resort, but i have perfectly straight hair after flat ironing it and that's what I wanted.

And one last thing, keep your ends trimmed. That will give you a clean look when you straighten your hair. I hope that helps.

  11. for a quick fix, get a new straightner.

for somthing that will last longer try a japenesse perm.it lasts for months :) kinda pricy tho

  12. Okay, if your flat iron is really cheap then you need to buy another one.

One with that has ceramic plates and high heat.

Do not flat iron your hair when wet.

If your hair is curly I would recommend putting a straightening product or maybe an ethnic product that moisturizes because curly hair has the tendency to be dry.

Section off parts of hair and go over about three times.

  13. Get a Japanese permanent straightening treatment.

  14. Get some straightening balm like from Garnier Fructis or Herbal Essences. Cheap but works. Whenever you wash your hair use a gel or mousse before you dry your hair. After it's dry put some straightening balm in and straighten little peices. I have a cheap straightener too but it's worth spending the extra dollars to buy heat protectant sprays. That way you won't damage your hair and get more frizz. I hope I could help. Frizz is a hassle, but you can win! =]

  15. i bought my flat iron at sally beauty supply.  it's a "Gobu."  it works really well.  however, the flatiron alone is only half the battle.  you need to use a shampoo and conditioner that promotes straightness.  i like "Pin Straight"  shampoo and conditioner by clairol herbal essence.  don't towel dry your hair or squeeze it, just let it drip and use a few drops of john frieda's "Frizz Ease."  next a dollop of sunsilk's "Straighten Up."  Now blow dry using an ionic dryer using a paddle brush.  hold the dryer above your head so that the air flows down the hair shaft, smoothing with the brush.  after that, spritz on a product that is a heat protector against the flatiron.  don't try to flat iron more than an inch section at a time.  yes, it will take awhile.  pin sections of your hair out of the way and do only a little at a time.  when you've done the whole thing, go over it lightly with a hair spray that is humidity resistant, garnier fructis makes a great one.  remember that keeping frizz at bay is all about keeping hair dry.  also realize that all of this will be enhanced by starting out with a great cut.

  16. I think you should get a new flat iron.  I recommend a chi.  You can buy one at a JCPenny salon.  In my opinion it works the best.

  17. yeah most likely you'll need a whole new straightener.

but with any straightener you need to use some kind of..

i think there called defusers or something so it doesnt damage your hair as much.

you need to be using SOMETHING

    try Chi's products or tresseme

  18. Cut your hair so it isn't so thick and first comb your hair till there is no knots before you flat iron. I think there is this mousse that you put in your hair so that it's easier to iron but im not sure

  19. i would use a straightening product, and most of the time a better flat iron makes a difference..especiallly if you have curly hair. i have a chi straightener...its pretty expensive but its worth it..plus it has a 1 year warranty good luck!

  20. just get a new flat iron thats probably the MAIN reason...They have really good one's at target..of course the most expensive is usually the best..

  21. Buy a shampoo and conditioner that is used for smoothing like matrix sleek look.  After you dry your hair, put some good serum in to take the frizzys away.  Try that and if it doesn't work, you best off just getting a new flat iron.  There is a good flat iron called Solia that goes for like $80.00 but it works reallly good and its cheap compared to others.  Read the reviews.

  22. Purchase a ceramic flat iron and buy one of the straightening products that you spray on your hair firs then flat iron. One tip is to take the hair and do like a press on each part of the hair then go over it with one or two good strokes.

I have hair like your, but I am bi-racial and this work. If it works for me, it should work for you.

  23. get a chi or sedu straightener. Sedu is incredible and i have really unruly hair, just like you discribed yours.

  24. While having a good flat iron is always more effective there are products that help get the " fresh out of the salon" look. There is this spray called " Soya Want Flat Hair". It works good at keeping your hair the way you want it and at the same time protects your hair and keeps it looking healthy. It also smells good (-:

  25. You can buy products to help your hair look smoother, such as "straight s**y hair aerated frizz spray," and many others. A shine spray would help your hair to have more shine. Also, a better straightening iron might help. If you blow dry your hair when you get out of the shower, that can help your hair to lay more flat and then use the flat iron on top of that. Although, that may be a lot of heat and you wouldn't want your hair to be damaged so you should buy a spray in conditioner and a heat defense spray.

  26. okay, a CHI is expensive. If you're rich and want to have a spendy flat iron that will probably work for maybe 3 months or so and then turn to S**t on you. GO FOR IT!

Personally, I recommend Herbal Essence Straighting shampoo and conditioner. Maybe even the frizz one, i forget what the name is. They work great! Just to tame the frizz a little bit. Also for the flat iron, get a wet2straight iron. use it when dry. You can get it at wal-mart for 30 bucks and it works AMAZING. I've had it for about a year and it still gets the job done. You can get your hair from crappy to shiny and straight looking in 15 minutes.. give or take, depends on your hair length and thickness.

  27. a new flat iron. you should get one for your hair type, thats maybe $50. or if you want a REALLY good one, and the price doesnt matter, get a CHI.

  28. Get a steamroller to roll over your head in the morning. Always works for me!
