Flat screen HDTV vs. Flat panel HDTV?

I want to purchase a an HDTV, but I want one from craigs list rather than buy one brand new in store. The only thing I want to know is, is there a difference between an older flat screen HDTV 1080i than a new flat panel HDTV 1080i, or do they both look the same when watching tv or playing video games. Does flat panel really matter?

  1. its a completely different product.

    Flat Screen means that its still a CRT, but the front is flat

    Flat Panel means either LCD or Plasma
