Flat screen TV help?

I'm looking to buy a 42 inch plasma/lcd. 1080p probably. Looking to spend around 1200-1500. Any good suggestions, things to stay away from. LCD or plasma pros/cons?

Stick with Samsung, Sharp or Sony. I recommend a Samsung. 42 inches will cost about $1400 with full HD (1080p). LCDs are better overall than plasmas. I personally will never buy a plasma. If plan to watch TV in a bright room (with lots of sunlight) get an LCD. Plasma is good for rooms with little light (like the basement). Stay away from cheap brands though. It's a big invesment so its better to get it right the first time.
