Flavien wins 5th stage and Malle retains his overall lead in 2011 International Tour De Martinique
Selection Martinique team’s Marc Flavien won the fifth stage of 2011 International Tour De Martinique on Wednesday, July 13. Guillaume Malle maintained his overall leader’s jersey.
The race started in Macouba and ended in Sainte Marie. The 22-year-old Flavien took a total of 3 hours, 3 minutes and 41 seconds to cover the distance of 105 kilometres.
Boris Carene of Selection Guadeloupe was the runner-up with 2 seconds behind Marc. Tomasz Olejnik of USSA Pavilly Barentin finished in the third spot.
The fourth stage winner Willy Roseau was in the fifth place, ahead of Kazuo Inoue and Cedric Eustache. Kenny Darmyn (Selection Guadeloupe), Sebastien Fournet Fayard (Veranda Rideau Sarthe) and Clement Saint-Martin (USSA Pavilly Barentin) were in eighth,
ninth and tenth places, respectively.
Masaru Fukuhara (Team Bridgestone Anchor) also showed his good effort, but was unable to hold his pace and grabbed 15th place with a difference of 1 minute and 46 seconds, ahead of Romain Cherruault and Kerane Barolin.
Mrc Flavien also took a lead in the overall point’s classification with 73 points, while Boris Carene was in the second spot with 53 points and Guillaume Malle was in the third position with 50 points.
Boris Carene launched the attack over the peloton, but failed to gain a lead, while Jose Alexender was only rider to catch Cedric. However, Cedric increased his pace and won the mountain standing of the stage with 50 points. Cedric also took the overall
King of mountain title with 134 points, ahead of Jose Alexender and Willy Roseau.
Veranda Rideau Sarthe rider, Guillaume Malle, maintained his overall lead with a timing of 16 hours, 41 minutes and 57 seconds. The stage winner, Marc Flavien (Selection Martinique), was the runner-up with 1 minute and 35 seconds behind Malle.
Boris Carene finished third with a difference of 3 minute and 22 seconds ahead of Willy Roseau and Jose Alexender Roa Gurrero.
The next stage will start in Sainte Marie and end in Trois Ilets. All the cyclists will cover the distance of 105.5 kilometres.
