  1. Because flax has a lot of fiber in it, which can give someone loose stools. If they have an obstruction (which could cause abdominal pain), loose stools would just cause a backup and create more pressure on that obstruction, which could cause damage to the tissues. It's the same basic warning that a laxative would have as well... it's just playing it on the safe side  ;-)

[edit]:  Even in pill form, it's still Flax Oil. Honestly, I'm willing to bet it's just the company being paranoid about lawsuits (or about some research that they found that may have been misinterpreted). You shouldn't have any problem with it (as most people don't), but they are likely just trying to avoid potential pointless lawsuits.

  2. Flax seeds (or for that matter any seeds or nuts) are very hard to digest and ground flax seeds or flax meal is a bit softer on the system but flax oil and flax oil capsules should not be a problem at all.

You could try the capsules and if they give you any problems then you could stop taking them.  Sometimes you get a bit of initial discomfort from some supplements as it takes your body a week or two to get used to the supplement.  With some supplements, such as for example spirulina, you have to start off with small doses and then later on you start taking the normal doses to avoid or minimise any initial discomfort.
