I just gave my cat a flea bath and now she's l*****g herself like crazy. I know I washed the shampoo off pretty good but I'm worried that I didnt get all of it. Can my cat get sick if there's still a little shampoo on her?

  1. If you are worried you didn't get it all off, then it's something you neer should have put on her in the first place. Yes... she can still get sick if there is shampoo on her.

From here on out... You can buy Capstar and Frontline Plus here which will definitely kill all the fleas on your cat and prevent reinfestation.

Use the Capstar right away. It will kill all fleas on your cat with in an hour. Then after an hour add on the frontline Plus and it will keep fleas off your cat for 30 days. No vet visit required and totally safe.

Frontline contains fipronil, which spreads via the body oils killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Ticks are generally killed before they bite, decreasing the risk of tick-borne disease transmission. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.

Frontline Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Regulator, which prevents an insect from maturing or reproducing. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.

You can use FRONTLINE flea and tick control once a month and it's completely waterproof. Provide your cat with the best flea and tick protection, right from the start.

Capstar - Treats flea infestations on pets. Starts killing adult fleas on the pet within 30 minutes. One dose lasts 24 hours. Use when pets are likely to be exposed to fleas. Also may be used prior to surgery, boarding, or grooming. Active ingredient is Nitenpyram, which interferes with the normal nerve transmission of insects, effectively killing them. Not a preventive. For pets over four (4) weeks of age. Package of 6.

  2. no don't worry i am sure you rinised her enough they always will do this cause they feel they clean themselves good which is why its hard to say. but i would give him flea bath if he had fleas cause chances are he also had worms cause they have to injest them and surely one did that is how they get worms.

  3. Don't panic I give my cats baths all the time. She probably won't get sick from a little shampoo.

  4. Don't worry too much yet, because she may just be cleaning her self.  This normal for a cat to do.  They like to be tidy.  If symptoms occur take her to the vet right away.

  5. If you used flea shampoo that said it was meant for cats right out front on the label then as far as making your cat sick, a little in her mouth shouldn't hurt her.

But if you used something formulated for dogs, then you might have a problem.

Some of the flea shampoo products put out by Hartz and those sold at retail stores don't work well beyond actually making the fleas angry and sick and they bite the animal MORE after the flea bath before they die....if they die.  That can cause your cat to scratch/l**k more.

Your cat could also have a bit of a reaction to the chemicals in the shampoo, intended to kill the fleas causing the extra itching/l*****g.

If I was you I'd make sure the shampoo was meant for cats, and get some Advantage for fleas from your vet and get that on your cat now.  It will help kill all life stages of fleas and if you use it 12 months out of the year your cat, and your home will be flea free inside a month or two and your cat will thank you.

  6. well this happen to me the cat was kitty is like 6 weeks my aunt gave it flea medicine when she was to little use dawn dish soap give her like 3 or 4 baths and dry her off maybe every half hour then your cat should be fine

  7. nope just relax we give our gray cat bonkers a flea bath all the time they just do that when they're wet thats how they dry themselves. if youve felt a cats dry tongue thats cause they need to dry their fur with their tongue. plus almost all cat flea bath shampoo should be digestible if there's any left, as long as you're cat isnt seriously like drinking it! : ) good luck to your cat and dont worry im sure she'll be fine

  8. If you didn't get it all off, it won't be enough to hurt her. Don't worry about it. All cats l**k themselves after getting wet, that is how they comb their hair. I have 5 cats, I found that using Frontline Plus works the best for fleas.
