Geeze this REALLY SUCKS!!! I've never had a problem with fleas, but all of a sudden the dog has them! I made her stay out of the house & now the fleas were on me last night! What is the best thing to do?! The baby is 1 week old!! I was thinking of keeping the dog outside & treating her, and bombing the house tonight & staying away until tomorrow night, then washing all the bedding & clothes....

would that be safe enough for the baby?

  1. as long as the baby is out of the house when you are using the flea bomb you will be safe, if you are out of the house over night then before you go home go in and open the windows to air the place and they baby will be fine, if you treat your dog at the same time then you should come home to a flea free house and the baby will be safe,, congratulations on the birth of your baby honey hope all goes well

  2. I know first hand about flea infestations. I don't mean to scare you but with a newborn and fleas you really have a problem on your hands. I had fleas when my son was about a year old. If you are finding them on yourself then they are probably beyond the home bombing method. I bombed my house three or four times and still couldn't get rid of them. As a matter of fact they seemed to come back worse after each bombing. The problem with bombs, besides the fact that they can't reach every nook and cranny, is that they don't kill the flea eggs so you have to wait after the first bomb until the eggs hatch then bomb again. This can lead to a vicious cycle. I ended up having Orkin come out every month for a year and it worked great. In order for Orkin to guarentee to get rid of them is to sign a year contract because of the egg issue. The other thing you will have to do is get your dog and any other pets you may have (even if they are indoor pets-they will already have fleas from the dog and the house) treated with a monthly product FROM YOUR VET like Frontline. They are liquid drops that you sqeeze onto your pets shoulder blades and the base of the tail once a month. When a flea bites the pet, it dies. Therefore, you don't have to keep your dog inside since any flea he picks up outside will die when they bite your dog or cats. This is the best solution therte is rof fleas and it is worth it so you don.t have to see your precious newborn filled with flea bites like I did my precious one year old while I struggled through the old fashioned store bought bombs and store bought flea treatmentws for my pets. Good Luck!

  4. Yeah that would be ok. You just need to make sure that the baby and anything else that is alive is removed from each room as you treat it.

Treat the dog at the same time to eradicate the problem. Treating both the house and the dog with a decent brand of flea treatment should break the flea life cycle for you.

Wash anything that is washable that has been kept in a room the dog has been in.
