Fleas in the house with a newborn!!!!?

Geeze this REALLY SUCKS!!! I've never had a problem with fleas, but all of a sudden the dog has them! I made her stay out of the house & now the fleas were on me last night! What is the best thing to do?! The baby is 1 week old!! I was thinking of keeping the dog outside & treating her, and bombing the house tonight & staying away until tomorrow night, then washing all the bedding & clothes....

would that be safe enough for the baby?

First, go to your vet and get some frontline or advantage, products that actually work.  The over the counter is sold over the counter because it doesn't work.  Products from your vet are guaranteed to protect your pet or your money back.  The dog must be treated at least 3 months in a row to get through all stages of the flea (egg, larva, adult).  (Keeping your pet on these products from first thaw to first freeze will prevent the problem from ever happening!) The carpets need to be steam cleaned, the house could be bombed (recommended professional not do-it-yourself.)  You, baby, all living things must stay clear of the home for at least 12 hours, I'd recommend 24 to be safe.  All bedding, rugs, etc needs to be washed in the hottest water possible to rid them of eggs, etc.  Keeping the dog outside won't help, the fleas have to eat, they'd prefer the dog but if doggie isn't there, they will go for the next warmest source, and that's your family!!  Good luck!!

i moved into a rental property that had fleas all throguht the place i bombed the house and got the carpets steam cleaned to kill any eggs

but if you have a dog yourself you are best to deflea the dog every week for about a month they are like head lice you need to kill the whole cycle not just one dose

if you are in a house thats not ona concrete slab make sure you throw a couple of flea bombs under your house as fleas can live in dirt
