Flemenstar to bring forward his brilliance in the Lexus Chase
The unbeaten in the two seasonal outings, Flemenstar, is all set for his first test over three miles. He will embark the challenge on 28th December in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown among eleven other confirmed runners in the race. Winning the spectacle, the seven-year-old bay gelding will be able to extend the winning feat to nine.
The Peter Casey trained kick started the season with an amazing success in the Grade 2 Irish Form Book Fortria Chase on 11th November at Navan race course over two miles.
He jumped through the eleven fences in companionship with jockey, A. E. Lynch, as the duo defeated Big Zeb by seven good lengths.
The race did not feature any Paul Nicholls or Nicky Henderson entries.
Extending his impeccable form, Flemensfirth’s bay gelding went all out in the Grade 1 John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase on 9th December, 2012 at Punchestown race course over two miles and four furlongs.
Racing in the same team, the evening’s favourite was able to set Sir Des Champs into the second slot due to the five length lead.
The success meant the world to the stable as the brilliant chaser was able to upset the profile of the previously unbeaten, Sir Des Champs.
There are quite high chances that Flemenstar will confront the Gigginstown House Stud-owned, Sir Des Champs, once again. Representation from the same stable will also emerge in the form of Bog Warrior, First Lieutenant and Quito De La Roque.
The highly competitive line-up also includes Sizing Europe, Rubi Light. Paul Nicholls has protected his winning chances with, Tidal Bay.
"Since the John Durkan Memorial, there has been no bother and no problem, but he's been more than ticking over - he cantered three miles today. He'll do the last of his work on Sunday at the Curragh," said Casey.
"We'll have to see - I don't know if he'll run again or go straight to Cheltenham. The Gold Cup is the main objective and we'll know on the 28th if he is a Gold Cup horse."
For some reason trainer, Nicky Henderson, has refrained from sending in his representatives in the Lexus. Many of his under charges have different targets to achieve.
