  1. Actually, I think other countries are being a little unfair on Pakistan. Yes, it is a volatile country, and there are bomb blasts in some of the cities, causing many fatalities etc.

However, you would think the way England, Australia and New Zealand are talking that Pakistan was the only country this happens in.

There have been bomb blasts in India too; yet cricketers were only too happy to play in the IPL and ICL (including Fleming). Car-jackings and muggings are a hazard in some parts of South Africa, but no one has yet refused to tour there. Even England has had its own security threats;we had the bombings on the Tube a couple of years back, as well as several other incidents, but that doesn't stop people coming here.

I live in an area with a high Pakistani population. I am used to talking to people who fly to and from Pakistan all the time. I have never yet heard anyone say that they are scared to go to Pakistan because of concerns about their security.

It is undeniable that there are genuine problems in Pakistan, and measures need to be taken to ensure the safety of the touring cricketers. However, I think a proper sense of perspective needs to be put on the situation. Instead of threatening to pull out, boards should be ensuring that all possible protection is awarded to their players. Admittedly, this may mean putting their hands in their pockets and reducing the amount in the coffers somewhat, but what price to you put on a human life?

So I can understand the concerns, but people need to realise that Pakistan is not a place where on every street corner there is a potential bomber.

It strikes me that players and officials are picking and choosing which places they deem are the most unsafe.

They could come to England and be bombed on the Tube.

  2. I think he's right, plus, I know Pakistan does not seem a stable country, but the boards should take into consideration the recent success of the Asia Cup and the fact that the other alternatives aren't exactly without issues either, which means that only non-Asian countries are viable alternatives, which therefore strangles development in Asian cricket.

  3. i think the board should take a stance and so should many other countries boards because if  even just a few key players refuse to go it leaves weakened teams and an overall weakened tournament. How could the potential winners be proud of themselves when not actually having faced full teams, just a collection of the reserve players willing to travel to pakistan?

Besides, and i know this is a separate issue but i'll say it anyway, i think the champions trophy should be scrapped. we talk about players playing too much, so why have this pointless competition which contains virtually the same teams as the actual world cup (unlike the euro championships in football) and is played every 2 years, often just months before or after a world cup. Sometimes less is more when it comes to international sport tournaments, but obviously the ICC don't think so. It's just another world cup but without the prestige of the real one, and now with the ICC world twenty20 tournament to be held every 2 years aswell, surely it's about time to call an end to the champions trophy.

  4. its fair thing , board should a stance

  5. 'The Oracle' has said it all. Great points there.

I think NZC should only take a 'stance' if they really do feel unsafe to travel to Pakistan, No one should be making the decision for them, i think players who want to go, should go and players who don't want to go should stay back. But none of this taking a deflated team. No person is greater than the other.

Countries and the news have made a big issue out of nothing.

  6. yes they come to my home
