Fletcher eyes new contract at Manchester United
Manchester United’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361 is set to sign a new contract which will see him remain with the club for another four years.
Fletcher has spent his entire career with the Red Devils so far, having first joined the team as a trainee back in the summer of 2000. The Scottish international was initially seen as a right winger, much like teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432. However, Sir Alex opted
to play Fletcher in more of a central midfielder role.
Fletcher’s first few years with the club were plagued by injuries, and he struggled to break into the first team. The 2003/04 season proved to be the turning point for the player. It was in this campaign that he started to feature more often for United,
quickly establishing himself as a mainstay in Manchester United’s starting eleven.
In the past few seasons, Fletcher became an integral part of the Manchester United team that achieved success in both the domestic competitions and in Europe.
Now, the Scottish international is set to sign a new deal with the Red Devils to cement his place in Sir Alex’s future plans. The new contract will bring Fletcher’s pay in line with the club’s highest earning players. Fletcher is being offered an amazing
80,000 pounds per week.
The central midfielder is often overshadowed by his teammates; however, Sir Alex Ferguson maintains that Fletcher is one of the most important members of the squad. The Scot consolidates the Manchester United defensive line, and is not afraid to push forward
should the need arise. He has been scoring more and more goals for United recently, many of which have been extremely important over the course of the season.
Should Darren Fletcher agree to the new deal, his career with Manchester United will be stretched to a remarkable 15 years. It seems as though the midfielder is hoping to see out the rest of his playing days with the Red Devils. For now though, he will be
more than happy to commit the next four years to the club.
