The defender has piled praise on the Scottish striker, claiming that he possessed talent similar to that of former Manchester United teammates http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 and John O’Shea.
Steven Fletcher’s brilliant start to life at Sunderland seems to have caught the eye of John O’Shea, who has now likened his abilities to some of the world’s best players.
Fletcher struggled to make his name whilst plying his trade at Burnley, but managed to capitulate the Premier League with an impressive scoring streak at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952.
However, the side were relegated from the Premier League and Wearside became the player’s next destination with Martin O’Neill choosing to splash the cash for signature.
The tactician seems to have made the right call in signing the talented forward, as he has already scored five times and looks set to continue this trend on the weekend. Blessed with dual feet and an eye for a goal, he could be the spark that sets the Stadium
of Light on fire this term, something which John O’Shea claims is well within his reach.
Having worked with the likes of Rooney and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 during his Old Trafford days, the defender knows quality when he sees it and has praised Fletcher for his superb performances this season.
“He’s definitely up there because of the way he takes his goals. His left foot is top class. I don’t want to put any more pressure on him because he has enough on his plate, but he’s definitely up there with some of the other strikers I have played with.
He’s top class.”
He also added that he had played against his fellow Sunderland teammate before but he still managed to make impact despite being in and out of the game at the time.
“I’d only played against Fletcher a couple of times before and he barely got a touch, but he scored two goals! When you see him in training you realise what a good player he is, not just as a finisher but his all-round game. He’s also getting fitter and
stronger so hopefully he will benefit us even more,” he said.
